Nancy was born loving horses. She grew up drawing and riding them, but equine photography was not something she ever remotely considered as a profession until a chance opportunity literally fell into her lap in late 2006. Near the end of a 17 year English/journalism teaching career, pictures she took to help a friend caught the attention of some Arabian horse owners, and people started asking her to photograph their horses. She eventually bought an inexpensive Canon Rebel XT and a used lens, and discovered what was to become the greatest passion of her life – capturing the beauty, spirit and personality of the magnificent Arabian horse.

Without her intrinsic passion for Arabian horses, she would not have a photography career.  She has eaten, breathed, and slept Arabian horses – their conformation, pedigree, and history – for almost 50 years. It is the obsessive fascination and kinship Nancy feels for these regal creatures that makes it possible for her to connect with them in a way that allows her to capture the special qualities unique to each horse. Nancy is also a longtime breeder, so it is of utmost importance to her that the images she captures be accurate representations of the horses she photographs, and she believes photographic integrity is of the utmost importance.

Nancy has made her living photographing Arabian horses and designing the occasional ad or eblast. Nancy has photographed some of the most successful Arabian horses in the breed. Pierce photos grace the covers and the pages of some of the industry’s finest Arabian horse publications. Like all other skills, Nancy believes it is imperative to continue the learning process – and she feels blessed to be able to refine her skills as she indulges herself in her once in a lifetime love – the Arabian Horse.
