Whisana Arabians

Many years ago, a young girl growing up in Texas dreamt of owning her own horse. With her father in the Air Force, that was an impossible dream, so she read every book about horses she could find. The wonder of The Black Stallion series captured her heart, and a love of the Arabian horse began that lasts to this day.

That young girl grew up, married a young man from Virginia who delighted that young woman with an incredible graduation present: a purebred Arabian mare.

From the gift of that one mare grew the concept of breeding and raising Arabian horses. Daughters of Bold Fire, Khemosabi, Aladdinn, and Fire Chief found a new home at Whisana Farm. The wonderful Bay el Bey son, Cinco Bey, sired many of the babies that would begin their lives at the farm and go on to major wins.

After travelling to Arizona for many years to attend the Scottsdale Arabian horse show, the Fergusons purchased 29 acres in Cave Creek, Arizona. A decision was made to retire there, and plans were put into place. Building of a house and barn was started and proceeded slowly.

The move was a story in itself. Horses were shipped to Arizona. The horse trailer was loaded with personal belongings and Jim and Gilda set out on the journey to Arizona to the new ranch.

The ranch is located in the foothills above Cave Creek, commanding an incredible view of the surrounding mountains and is adjacent to the Spur Cross Preservation area.
